We provide bespoke educational packages, tailor made for each student, embedding a broad and balanced curriculum covering the core subjects needed for success in everyday life, and deliver this in a way that suits each student's individual learning profile.
We believe in nurturing a love for learning through hands-on experiences, creative exploration, and project based learning. At Fable House, we understand that every young person deserves a nurturing and inclusive environment that meets their individual needs.
Fable House provides highly personalised education for young people and young adults who need a different approach to learning.
Across our school and alternative provision, students access the same flexible, project-based Fable House curriculum. The difference is not in the quality or breadth of the education available, but in how each student's programme is constructed and the amount of time they spend with us.
Our post-19 provision, The Gatehouse, builds on this approach with an increasing focus on adulthood, independence and employment.
Part-time Alternative Provision
Our alternative provision offers flexible, part-time education for young people who may be accessing education through a number of different settings or arrangements.
Each package is individually designed around the student's needs, interests, goals and existing education. Students can access selected elements of the wider Fable House curriculum, allowing us to complement rather than duplicate learning taking place elsewhere.
This might include Maths and English, project-based learning, qualifications, vocational learning, independence skills, personal development or a combination of these.
For some students, the priority may initially be re-engaging with education and rebuilding confidence. For others, Fable House may provide a particular subject, qualification or type of learning that forms one part of a wider educational package.
Full-time School Provision
Our school provides full-time education for a small number of students aged 11 to 18 who benefit from a highly personalised, relationship-based approach to learning.
Students access the full Fable House curriculum, with their individual pathway determined by their starting point, needs, interests and aspirations rather than age alone.
Through our Maple and Beech programmes, students can progress from Entry Level learning through to Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, alongside Functional Skills in Maths and English. Project-based learning, personal development, independence, wellbeing and enrichment are embedded throughout.
As students progress, they have increasing opportunities to explore and specialise in vocational areas through Maple+ and Beech+, helping them identify their strengths and begin building a meaningful pathway towards further education, employment and adult life.
Post-19 – The Gatehouse
The Gatehouse is our dedicated provision for young adults aged 19+, providing a purposeful next step beyond school. Based in a separate adult environment exclusively for our post-19 students, The Gatehouse places independence, employability and preparation for adulthood at the centre of each young person's programme.
Students develop practical independent living and social skills alongside employability, work experience, community participation and continued Maths and English where appropriate. Individual programmes are shaped around each young adult's aspirations and the skills they need for their next steps.
The emphasis increasingly moves from learning about adulthood to putting those skills into practice: travelling, working, managing everyday responsibilities, making decisions, building relationships and participating in the wider community. Our aim is for each young adult to leave The Gatehouse with greater independence, meaningful experience and a clear pathway towards paid employment, further training and/or independent living.
