Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
At Fable House, we believe everyone has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, to keep them safe and to practise in a way that protects them. We will give equal priority to keeping all children and young people safe regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
Fable House staff also have a responsibility to ensure that if we come into contact with children and young people that we believe have been subject to external factors which cause a Safeguarding concern, we will follow the appropriate procedures and report to the appropriate service.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL are fully trained and experienced in safeguarding practices, with our current DSL previously being DSL for a large mainstream primary school in Manchester. All of our staff, regardless of role, have annual Safeguarding training and receive regular Safeguarding updates throughout the year. All of our staff are trained in Trauma Informed Practice to ensure we are working in a way that promotes our students’ wellbeing. Safer Recruitment practises are used during the employment of all staff, with all staff having Enhanced DBS checks to ensure their suitability for working with children and young people.
We have well-established, systematic Safeguarding procedures in place and work closely with our families and outside agencies to provide holistic support for our students. Fable House uses closed circuit television (CCTV) order to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors. This footage can be used in the event of relevant Safeguarding incidents as factual evidence. A sign in system is used for all students, staff and visitor to ensure safety on site. All visitors are made aware of our Safeguarding procedures and visitors are accompanied on site by staff at all times.
